Building a Delivery Round App from the Driver's Seat

Half Dozen Other is a Manchester-based bakery supplying products to businesses across the city. After observing the challenges faced by delivery drivers, I identified an opportunity to improve the onboarding process and simplify daily deliveries through a more intuitive digital application.

What I Did

From spotting the problem on the road to a working, vibe-coded app, here's how I approached it.

UX Research

I identified the problems drivers faced day to day, from paper route sheets to a hard-to-use app.

User Journey Mapping

I mapped a delivery shift end to end, from choosing an area to the final drop.

UX/UI Design

I designed a clearer, brand-aligned interface built for quick glances on the road.

AI-Powered Prototyping

I used AI tools to turn designs into interactive prototypes quickly.

Vibe Coding

I vibe-coded the working application rather than handing over static screens.

Feature Development

I built stop management, issue reporting and what3words drop-off locations.

Usability Testing

I tested the app on real delivery rounds and refined it from what I learnt.

Google Sheets Integration

I connected a simple Sheets workflow so new customers can be added easily.

The Situation

The existing delivery process relied heavily on printed documents and an overly complicated application. Drivers needed to navigate changing routes, locate deliveries accurately, access customer information and communicate issues while on the road.

The existing interface was unintuitive, visually inconsistent with the brand and lacked the flexibility to add new delivery locations or easily report problems.

THE SOLUTION

I designed and vibe-coded an interactive delivery application, transforming the existing paper-based information into a clearer, more accessible digital experience.

The application introduced simplified navigation, easily accessible customer contacts, the ability to add or amend delivery stops, issue reporting and more accurate drop-off locations using what3words.

I also integrated a simple Google Sheets workflow, allowing delivery information to be updated as new customers came on board.

THE OUTCOME

The resulting prototype demonstrated a more intuitive, brand-aligned approach to managing deliveries, designed to reduce distractions and support safer working practices.

It provided a clearer way to access delivery information, manage changing orders, identify precise destinations and communicate issues, while offering a scalable foundation for future development.
